Content Strategy

A digital content strategy is a plan that make sure that all your content is properly planned, created and managed; that it is coherent and consistent, and that it constantly supports your business goals. I draw up and implement these plans.

construction of the eiffel towerI usually work with organisations who are planning new sites & projects or wide-reaching redesigns, so that their new site starts, and continues, with the right content. But if there are specific parts of an existing site that aren’t delivering, focussing on the content is often the most effective (and cheapest) fix.

I have wide expertise in planning and implementing strategies for websites, from large start-ups creating 1000’s of pages of new content, to small businesses with sites under 10 pages. Sometimes I create the content, sometimes I help organisations do it themselves. Often, it is just a question focussing on what users want to know (not what organisations want to tell them) and on making sure that existing content is repointed to work on the web. As well as designing content for sites, I’ve also drawn up complementary strategies for social media, so that a company’s message goes across the web, not just on its own site.

It’s a fairly new discipline, so there’s more here about what content strategy is and the practical ways it can improve your web presence. I’ve also drawn up a Top 10 of things you can do to start planning your content.
